How is Your Summer??

Hi Ladies :)

Well we are almost at the end of June and so, let's see, that means just 58 days before school starts again!! How many times have you heard "I'm bored!" already? We should make the kids pay into a kitty towards our scrapbooking supplies every time they say that!!

As far as business goes, I have to say that although we are excited about offering 8X8 Velcro Scrapbook Albums it is looking less and less likely that it will be this year. I know there are a few of you that may send me "hate" mail because of this but the economy is really tough and looks like it will only get worse (especially given our "wonderful" choices of candidates). We are primarily have a problem with the protector pages - did you know that they are made with oil? So I did send out an email asking for your opinions about the whole 8X8 option - most of you have said that you do NOT scrapbook in 8X8. We have not yet made a final decision but short of a lottery win (which I don't play) well.....

Mom and I have been busy sewing here for the rest of our show season. We still have Hartford (twice), Valley Forge, and Charlotte. We are also on the waiting list for Kansas City, MO so hopefully that will happen. We are also doing a crop with Croptopia Getaways in November in Newport (oh la la). So come find us at one of our events!!!

Speaking of the kids being bored, last Friday Mom and I drove up to Center Harbor, NH to go to Keepsake Quilting (for those of you who are not fabric whores this is like a mecca in the fabric world). We were gone from 8AM until 7:30PM - can you believe the kids were BORED?? What 4 and 7 year old BOYS don't love to fabric shop?? We did stop to let them eat and pee! I even got them ice cream - such a good mom!!

I spent today cleaning the upstairs in my house - isn't that exciting? You know the type of cleaning where you even go through the closets?? Before Scrap It Simple, my house was immaculate - seriously, I had friends who would open my closets to show their friends just how CLEAN and ORGANIZED. Isn't that sad? I do get that now. I think though I may have strayed to far the other extreme. It is not good to find cobwebs, right? It took me 4 hours to clean 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom - so anyone planning to visit do it within the next 2 days!!!

Anyone have any great plans this summer they want to share? So the rest of us at home with our BORED children can be envious!!

Blog Away!!!

June 5

Hi Ladies!

Just wanted to post you all a quick update on a bunch of things. We have been informed that 2 shows we had signed up for have been canceled:

ScrapFun - July in Lewiston, ME

Scrapbook Expo - Sept. 13-14 - in Long Island

I have to say that we are extremely disappointed about Long Island being canceled. We love coming!!! Apparently the dates conflict with a presidential debate and Scrapbook Expo cannot find another time to hold the event.

We have placed our order for the 8x8 poly sheets so we will be starting to work on the Veclro 8X8 Scrap Wrap albums shortly. We are hoping to debut them at the CK Valley Forge show the first weekend in August.

On a personal note, my mom's mom did pass away this week, thank you to all of you who have sent your prayers.

CKC - Buffalo

Hi All-

Well we just got back from Buffalo!! This time it was myself and Cara Miller from Cara Miller Designs that came in together. My mom's mother is in a nursing home and not been given much longer so Mom is staying home for now. Thank you to all of you who sent along your well wishes!! They are much appreciated. Mom is holding up well.

Just so you gals know - the paper orders will all be leaving my door on Tuesday so most of you will have them before the weekend!

Hopefully this month will be sent bringing our stock levels back up and starting to work on those 8X8 Velcro scrapbook albums you have been waiting for! We can't wait to get started on them.

Not much new here on the home front - my hubby has himself a new riding lawn mower which is apparently the best thing since........... well I think it is the best thing ever. He is cutting the grass every other day!!! My 4 year old even asked if Daddy loved the lawnmower more than us? Well - yeah, sort of!!!

Our next show is in Chantilly, Virginia with Great American Scrapbook. This is a great show ladies so if you have never come to a Great American event there is still time!!! Show dates are June 20 & 21.

See you then,
Tracie

CK - Manchester Fun & All the Orders are Done!!

I cannot believe it but ALL of the paper orders from the past three shows (New Jersey, Megameet, and Manchester) are done and the last of them were picked up today by Mr. Postman . You know that term "going postal" well do you think maybe it is from having to pick up 100 or so packages everyday for 4 days?? hmmmmmmmm...... anyway he did ask "Is this it for awhile?" Some people have NO sense of humor!! Perhaps we should switch to UPS - given a choice who doesn't prefer a man in a bland brown uniform?!?

It was so nice to see all of you again! Hi Jenn!!! Oh, and my Peabody gal pals Margo & Kristin - what happened to stopping back by to chat? geez ...... Mom's feelings were hurt!!! I hope you are all enjoying your new albums. I am happy to report that we set a new record at CK-Manchester for number of albums purchased at a convention! You gals are AWESOME!!!

I got to hang out with my pals - the simply fabulous CARA from Cara Miller Designs and Lynn from Time Flies Designs (missed you Jessica!!!) - equally as fabulous as I do not want to be accused of playing favorites. We had so many laughs - great dinners - and lots of interesting conversations (you know who you are!).

On the business side of things, I have a new paper line that I am hoping to get out soon that will incorporate your choice of graphics with your choice of horizontal or micros prints. Mom and I have also decided to go ahead and start our 8X8 album line. We are hoping to get this out by August/September. It is still at the infancy stage as I need to get all the supplies together that we need. I know there a few of you anxiously awaiting these albums - I promise we will do them as soon as possible! And I have some ideas for some cool little add-on's to our velcro albums (shhhhh - just our little secret).

Cara is working on a project with Susan from Croptopia Getaways for more of a teaching weekend crop where you will walk away with a completed 12X12 VELCRO scrapbook album. I don't believe the dates are set yet but if it is one of my free weekends, I will be one of Cara's assistant teachers for the weekend. So make sure you check it out and sign up!!!

In closing I thought I would share a funny story about my 6 year old son, Jacob. He brought a fund raiser home (candy bars for $1). So he was all excited about it - "mom, i have 3 boxes with 20 candy bars in each one - that is $60". Hmmmmmmmmmmm then it dawned on me that he wasn't quite grasping the concept of "fund raiser". I said "Jake, you know that money goes to the school, right"? You know that look people get on their face...... What the ****?
Really?????? Yes, Jake, really all that money goes back to the school. His response: "Okay, well then I won't be doing that." Priceless!
At dinner that night he was informing his father as he was sure that Dad could rectify the situation. Oh, man, you mean mom was right??
After much thought he had found a solution:
"I know - we will give the school half the money and we will keep the other $30!"
Ah, my little entrepreneur!

Well, that is all for now. So if you just read the whole blog, shouldn't you post a response?? Someone could get a complex (or twitch) from talking to themselves!!!
Who knew it would be so hard to get women to chat?!?
You don't have to leave your name - you can do it anonymous.....

Hope everyone has a great week!

This is going to be short so we can get some sleep :)

So you all know, Mom and I will be working this summer on our new line of 8X8 Velcro Scrapbook Albums. Many of you have asked and we heard you!!!! And to Serene, we will work as fast as we can to get these done - Promise!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know from the Megameet and Memories Expo in New Jersey that about 90% of the orders have already been mailed out. The rest of the orders will go out on Monday. Just let me know if I made any mistakes (not that I make any of course!).

I should be sending out the May newsletter soon in which we will be announcing the free album winner - good luck to all!!! Make sure you are registered at our website for a chance to win!

Pre Show Days

Hi Everyone!!

Well here in Massachusetts we are busy sewing, sewing, and ah let's see - ah, yes, more sewing!!!
We are traveling to Michigan, New Jersey, New Hampshire, and New York during the month of May - whew......

I hope we are going to see some of you at these shows. Just so you know, my husband and sister-in-law are doing the show in Michigan - so make sure to stop by and make my hubby show you our new "stripping" paper line :)
I am anxious to see what you all think of the new paper line so let me know (well....... only if you love it of course!!!!).

We also made the decision to no longer print live at the shows. This was a hard decision as I know a lot of you look forward to getting the paper printed. But there was just some issues with taking the printer with us (the amount of room it took - plus a backup one - we had issues with the ink "escaping", not to mention the amount of time you ladies would wait in line and then the printer would go down. Everyone was always so sweet but you just never when or for how long).

So anyway we decided to take orders instead - free shipping if the order is over $20 (10 pieces of paper which can all be different). So gather your friends together and combine your orders. Orders should all be in your hands no more than 2 weeks after a show. We have already done this at the last 2 shows we attended and it seemed to go over well. No long lines to wait in and no danger of you ruining your paper while you shop around!!! Plus it also allows me the ability to make any minor changes I think are necessary.

Be sure and check out our website - Scrap It Simple - and check out our retailer list - maybe there is someone near you!!! We have a couple of other stores coming up so check back.

Remember you can order you paper ahead of time through our website and then pick it up at the show (save yourself tax and shipping). You can also put a deposit on an album. That way we will bring the album to the show just for you. You will still get the $50 album deal (plus tax).

Well my sewing machine is crying from lack of attention - so back to work I go.

Hope to see you soon-
